2026: A Big Announcement & A Moment of Pause
A note from KAILU’s founder
I was so incredibly proud to share some big news: KAILU was recently selected by the State of California for an official trade mission to Saudi Arabia this May. For a small business built on quiet luxury and heritage silk, being chosen for this global stage felt like a monumental milestone.
And then today happened...
My heart is with everyone impacted by these events. It is a gentle reminder that people — the makers, the families, the explorers, me, you — are not their governments. While the future of this trade mission is now secondary to the unfolding crisis, my deeper wish is for peace in the region and people's safety everywhere.
This time of year, I also usually send out lighthearted Lunar New Year horoscopes. Today, it all feels rather trivial. The Year of the Fire Horse has arrived with a literal intensity that few saw coming, even though "fire years" are known for being full of rapid change and unpredictability.
I’ve been reflecting on how we can navigate this intensity together. And, though my predictions are amateur at best, I am confident we will:
-
Be bold, but remember to breathe: Though the world is moving fast, we won't let the speed send us into panicked moves.
-
Find our anchor: In a "fire year," we'll discover the rituals and objects that calm us and keep us grounded.
-
Use patience as our superpower: Sometimes the most horse-like thing we can do is hold our ground until the road ahead is clear and open once again.
I’ll keep you updated as we learn more from our state coordinators. For now, I wish you a transformative, restful, and — above all — safe start to 2026.
Take care,
LiLi
